“New. Every Morning.” by Kirk Hunt
It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV
Every morning when you get up, there is a new package at your table. Your worries and concerns probably try to bush it to the back. Certainly, they clamor more loudly and perhaps visibly, for your attention.
God’s mercies are fresh and new. Every morning. No matter what happened before, you have the continuing opportunity to work for His Kingdom. No matter the record, you continue because He said you may.
Nothing exhausts God’s pool of compassion. No series of events exceed His store of mercy. He is an unlimited God who just happens to love finite people.
The weighty question is your response. Knowing that every day, God has given you gifts, how do you respond? What do you do with today’s mercy and grace?
That new package is sitting at your table. Clear away the clutter and noise that try to crowd out His gift to you. Choose carefully how you are going to respond to a God who gives you so much.
Think: Every morning, God pours fresh compassion and mercy over my life.
Pray: “Lord, help me to take advantage of the gifts You you give me every day.”

“No Retirement” by Kirk Hunt
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
John 21:18 KJV
The story is told of an aqueduct built by the Romans in the 1st century BC. After more than 1,500 years of faithful service, the city fathers decided to preserve the structure that continued to bring clean, fresh water to their city. They built a modern pipe-based water channel to replace the old stone structure.
No longer serving it’s purpose, the old stone structure began immediately and rapid deterioration. Use and functionality kept the old aqueduct alive. Lack of use became a death sentence.
Perhaps you’re enjoying a season of rest and restoration. A new season of work and ministry are in your future. Maybe you’ve been a faithful Gospel laborer for many years. You will do more and better work in the future.
God’s saints have no retirement plan. You will simply receive your reward in heaven. Until then, God has a purpose and plan for your life.
Groan if you must. Adopt a slower pace, if you have to. God has a purpose and plan for your life. Serve Him, until the end.
Think: God’s saints rust out faster than they wear out.
Pray: “Lord, give me a heart to serve You until the very end.”

“Not Ashamed” by Kirk Hunt
O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
Psalms 25:20 KJV
David fled from his father-in-law like a criminal. King Saul viewed his loyalty, faithfulness and fidelity as crimes, fit only for death. Certainly, there’s nothing like the fugitive life to teach you fear and paranoia.
Hunted as a fugitive, David did not despair. Unjustly accused, David did not lose faith. Despite these admirable responses, David remained human after all. David cried out for deliverance and confirmation.
Human men and women are hurt and battered at times. The storms and tempests of this life can stress and strain the best of us. It is at those times that our faith in God seems misplaced.
God’s faithfulness is unending and immeasurable. No one who trusts in God will ever be disappointed. Still, during a long, sleepless night, it’s too easy to wonder when His deliverance will arrive.
God is there. You will not be left “holding the bag.” God will not let you be ashamed.
Put your trust in Him. Stand and wait for His deliverance. It may take a while, but God will not let you be ashamed.
Think: Put your trust in God. No matter how it looks, He is in control.
Pray: “Lord, I choose to trust You. Don’t let me be ashamed.”

“Quiet Lions” by Kirk Hunt
Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
Daniel 6:21-22 KJV
The angel snapped his fingers to get the lions’ attention. “You’re going to host Daniel for the night. You will not eat him.” The lion roars were deafening.
“If you’re going to respond like that, then you don’t get to open your mouths until tomorrow.” After another snap of his fingers, complete silence fell on the den.
* * *
Godly people are, at times, thrown to the lions. Often, for doing the right thing. Even men and women of the strongest faith aren’t eager for an eyeball-to-eyeball with several Panthera leo.
Daniel landed face down in the lion’s den, because he prayed. His faith and faithfulness wouldn’t allow him to hide. His love of God exceeded his fear of a powerful king or hungry cats.
God doesn’t always deliver us from the lion’s den. I wish I could tell you He always delivers us from the lions. No matter where we go, or what we face, God’s will remains sovereign.
Quiet lions greeted Daniel. There may be lions roaring in your life, but the God of Daniel can quiet them also. Who is in the lion’s den with you?
Think: God can silence the lions of your life.
Pray: “Lord, help me to trust You through every episode of my life.”
